This site offers the courses listed below, some as video presentations others as articles. The subject matter tends to focus on disinfection because Isopharm is a specialist provider of products to those conducting decontamination of medical devices and infection control within dental practices.

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults in the Dental Practice ( Level 2 )
GDC and CQC recommend that every dental professional undertakes CPD training for Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, and that this training is refreshed every 24 months. This course will provide guidance on what neglect, abuse and harm is, why dental professionals should follow policies and protocols, and how to follow policies and protocols.

Environmental Maintenance and Cleaning
Dental practices need to demonstrate that they provide and maintain a clean and appropriate environment that facilitates the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections. This course will teach learners to understand the importance of environmental cleaning and maintenance within a dental practice. The importance of practice policy is highlighted, along with references to industry standards such as the National Patient Safety Agency colour coding scheme.

Steriliser Testing and Validation
All dental practices are required under HTM 01-05 to perform routine testing and validation on their decontamination equipment. This course will provide guidance on what testing and validation is required for a benchtop steriliser, why it is required, and how the tests are performed.

Ultrasonic Bath Testing and Validation
All dental practices are required under HTM 01-05 to perform routine testing and validation of their decontamination equipment. This course will teach learners to understand what testing and validation is on an ultrasonic bath, why it is required and how the tests are performed.

Legionella Fundamentals
All dental practices are required under the Approved Code of Practice L8 (ACOP L8) along with guidance in the HCAI code of practice and HTM 01-05 to undertake a legionella risk assessment. This course will teach learners to understand what Legionnaires disease is and how to prevent or control risks associated with legionella.

Decontamination Processes
HTM 01-05 states that ‘Training and education in the process of decontamination should be part of staff induction programmes. This course will teach learners how to comply with the decontamination processes training requirement of HTM 01-05.

Waste Disposal
HTM 01-05 states that ‘Training and education….including waste disposal, should be part of staff induction programmes’. This course will teach learners how to comply with the waste disposal training requirement of HTM 01-05.

An Introduction to Blood-borne Viruses (BBVs)
HTM 01-05 states that ‘Training and education in exposure to blood-borne viruses and infection risk reduction, should be part of staff induction programmes’. This course will teach learners how to comply with the blood borne viruses training requirement of HTM 01-05.

Personal Protective Equipment
HTM 01-05 states ‘The local infection control policy should specify when personal protective equipment (PPE) is to be worn and changed. PPE training should be incorporated into staff induction programmes.’ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is wearable everyday protection to help minimize the spread of infection.

Hand Hygiene
HTM 01-05 ref 6.3 states all dental staff should be aware that “As part of essential quality requirements, training in hand hygiene should be part of staff induction and be provided to all relevant staff within dental practices periodically throughout the year. This course will teach learners how to effectively perform hand washing and hand hygiene whilst also highlighting bad practice. This will allow the learner to comply with the training requirement of HTM 01-05.
